The
Lignan Advantage - What
are Lignans?
Lignans are powerful
antioxidants. Lignans can reduce free radicals
created by pollution that can lead to potential
health issues. Food sourced lignans are converted by
the intestinal flora to enterodiol or enterolactone.
It reduces the impact of oxidation, thus slowing the
signs of aging. For years, the highest lignan food
source was flaxseed. However. its dominant lignan,
secoisolariciresinol diglucoside must be cleaved
before it can be absorbed in the small intestine. If
cleaving occurs and is absorbed, it is metabolized
into enterodiol and then to enterolacone. Research
have shown that the highest quality of lignans has
been discovered in the Norwegian Spruce Tree.
Lignans from wood extracts have been proven to show
antimicrobial activity and anti-inflammatory
activity.
The 7-hydroxymatairesinol lignan, the prominent
lignan in Norwegian Spruce Tree, in Fountain of Life
is much more efficient than those in flaxseed. It is
in an aglycone form, meaning it may be readily
absorbed. As well, it converts readily to the
powerful human lignan enterolactone. Health
professionals recommend an increase in foods
containing lignans.
A 30 year study showed
30% less cancer, and 30% less heart disease for
those following a high lignan diet.

FOR OUR PETS TOO:

with Pets
Fountain of Life can replace the lignans not in the
diet of your pet.
If the pets are spayed or neutered, lignans in the
diet are important.
As well,
lignans have shown to improve the
well-being of dogs suffering from Cushing's Disease.
Add 1 drop of FOL per 10 kg of the pet's weight to
their food on a daily basis.
